Bern, 14.09.2026 — On 14 and 15 September, Federal Councillor Albert Rösti will attend the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, which runs until 18 September. As head of DETEC and Minister for Energy, he will represent Switzerland at the highest level.
At the Conference, Switzerland will champion the IAEA’s core missions: ensuring that nuclear installations are safe, protecting them against unauthorised access and verifying that nuclear material is used exclusively for peaceful purposes. On Monday, 14 September, Mr Rösti will first meet the Belgian Minister for Energy, Mathieu Bihet, and will then deliver Switzerland’s statement in the plenary session. In the evening, he will hold further bilateral talks with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi. On Tuesday, 15 September, he will open the Swiss exhibition stand. A meeting is also scheduled with Daniel Westlén, State Secretary to the Swedish Minister for Climate and the Environment.
