In Switzerland and Europe there are legal specifications for the majority of measuring instruments used in the areas of trade, transport, public safety, health and environmental protection.
The accredited conformity assessment body METAS-Cert is the body designated by Switzerland and recognized by the EU for the conformity assessment of measuring instruments. METAS-Cert, acting on behalf of the manufacturers of measuring instruments, carries out the conformity assessments required for placing products on the market.
The accredited conformity assessment body METAS-Cert carries out conformity assessments:
CE marking in accordance with the Measuring Instruments Directive (2014/32/EU, MID) and the Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments Directive (2014/31/EU):
CH labelling based on national conformity assessments.
Certification in accordance with OIML or for weighing cells and non-automatic weighing instruments in accordance with OIML MAA.
Approved audit body for VCAP assessments for the American National Conference on Weights and Measures.
METAS-Cert carries out evaluations, expert opinions, certifications and inspections in the private law area based on standards or customer-specific requirements.
