The number of asylum applications in July 2024 was 2,264, an increase of 383 (+20.4%) compared to the previous month. However, it was almost the same as in July 2023 (+95). A total of 16,385 asylum applications were registered in the first seven months of this year, with approximately 2,800 of these coming from individuals from Afghanistan who were already in Switzerland and did not place additional strain on the asylum system.
