Vincenzo Mascioli
Vincenzo Mascioli serves as the State Secretary for Migration and head of the SEM since 1 January 2025.
Born in 1970, Vincenzo Mascioli has been working in the federal administration since 2005 – initially as a research assistant to the Control Committee of the Federal Assembly, and between 2007 and 2010 as an advisor on the staff of Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger in the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). From 2010 to 2016, Vincenzo Mascioli was personal assistant to Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga in the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP).
At the beginning of 2017, Vincenzo Mascioli became Deputy Director of the SEM, where he took over the International Directorate, which includes the International Cooperation, European Cooperation and Return Divisions. In this role, Mascioli negotiated migration partnerships and other agreements with numerous countries.
Before joining the federal government, Vincenzo Mascioli worked as an editor in the publishing industry for several years.
